About the Job
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Replacement Surveyor to join a leading company in the water industry. This role involves carrying out on-site surveys for lead pipe replacement programmes, ensuring accurate assessments, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service throughout the customer journey.

You’ll be responsible for identifying existing lead supply infrastructure, assessing site conditions, and providing clear technical data to support replacement and reinstatement teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct internal and external property surveys for lead service pipe replacement works on domestic and commercial properties.
  • Engage with customers on-site to explain the lead replacement programme and encourage sign-up to the lead replacement scheme where applicable.
  • Assess feasibility and record accurate measurements, photos, and site documentation.
  • Identify existing lead supply infrastructure and determine replacement requirements.
  • Identify and record surface types (e.g., tarmac, concrete, block paving, grass) to support excavation and reinstatement planning.
  • Determine what traffic management measures may be required for safe on-site operations.
  • Check Street Works requirements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and permits.
  • Identify potential risks, access issues, and environmental considerations associated with excavation and replacement works.
  • Liaise with customers, contractors, local authorities, and internal teams to coordinate site access and programme delivery.
  • Report findings digitally using handheld or tablet-based survey systems.
  • Support the planning of reinstatement requirements following excavation activities.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in utilities, surveying, or water industry operations, ideally involving service pipe or lead replacement programmes.
  • Knowledge of Street Works (NRSWA) processes and requirements.
  • Understanding of excavation, reinstatement, and traffic management requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proficiency with handheld data collection devices or survey applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene card.

Desirable:
  • NRSWA accreditation.
  • Experience working on clean water networks or mains renewal projects.
  • Knowledge of lead pipe regulations and water hygiene practices.
